About this Image:

In 2 Kings 4:8–17, a Shunammite woman showed remarkable kindness to the prophet Elisha each time he passed through her town. She prepared bread for him and invited him to share a meal. Recognizing that he was a man of God, she and her husband made ready a room in their home so he would have a place to rest during his travels. The Shunammite woman stands as a beautiful example of quiet discipleship. She gave freely of her time and means, seeking no recognition or reward. Her story reminds us of the power of generosity, the importance of recognizing those who serve God, and the blessings that come from service.

About the Artist:

Maureen Merrell is a Utah-based artist whose work explores themes of faith, spirituality, and the human experience.
